  • Where is your office located? Is free parking available?
    Dr. Holmes' office is centrally located in Northeast Portland, at 2115 NE Halsey Street. There is a free dedicated parking lot in front of the building
  • Does Dr. Holmes have a specialty or specific patients he works best with?
    Yes! Dr. Holmes specialized in chronic complex digestive issues that may impact other areas of the body including chronic fatigue, chronic pain, brain-fog, lightheaded/dizziness (POTS), over/under active immune system responses (MCAS), hormonal disruptions, sleep disturbances and hypermobility syndromes (hEDS) He will often perform diagnostic workup for conditions such as tick-borne illness (borrelia, bartonella, babesia), MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome), hEDS (hypermobile ehlers-danlos syndrome, SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth), SIFO (intestinal fungal overgrowth/candida overgrowth), IMO (intestinal methane overgrowth) and other causes of health ailments.
  • Can Dr. Holmes be my doctor?
    Certainly! You can schedule with Dr. Holmes by visiting the services page or by calling 971-266-3838. Legally, you must schedule an in-person visit once per year for Dr. Holmes to be able to order labs, imaging, diagnose any conditions or prescribe specific treatments.
  • What if I can not travel to Portland?
    Not a problem! Dr. Holmes offers 30 and 60-minute phone/video consults with people all over the world. We will chat face-to-face about diagnostic work-ups, current treatment plans, and other health related questions to help educate clients on possible next steps. Think of the information shared in these consultations as the type of conversation you might have with a close friend who is a doctor - you may ask for their input or ideas but wouldn't expect them to diagnose or prescribe medication without being seen in their clinic.
  • Does Dr. Holmes take insurance?
    Yes! He is credentialed with many insurance companies including: Aetna, MODA, Regence BlueCross BlueShield, Pacific Source, Providence and Cigna. If your insurance does not fall into this category, we can provide a superbill after your appointment that can be submitted to insurance for reimbursement. Insurance cannot be billed for phone or video consultations for patient residing outside of Oregon/Portland Metro Area.
  • Do you confirm insurance coverage and health care benefits?
    No. Insurance coverage is a contract between you and your insurance company. You are responsible for confirming your benefits and deductibles. If insurance denies coverage, you are responsible for payment.
  • What is a superbill?
    A superbill is an invoice for services that you can submit to your insurance company directly. Based upon your coverage, you may receive a reimbursement from your insurance company
  • What if I need to cancel my appointment?
    Missed Appointments/ Cancellations: If for any reason you are unable to make your appointment, please give us 48 hours notice. For any missed appointments or less than 48-hour notice for cancellation your account will be charged $125. (Exceptions will be made for emergencies.) If you are late for your appointment, your visit may be shortened and you will also be charged for the reserved time on the schedule. We require a credit card on file and accounts to be paid within 90 days upon notification missed visit.
  • Is there any additional fees for paperwork outside of appointments?
    $50 per 15 minutes Some examples: FMLA Forms: typically 15-45 minutes Short-Term Disability Forms: typically 30-60 minutes Letters of Accommodation: typically 15-30 minutes
